It brings back the old idea from the dead to create "terrapin Station" a place where heads could purchase any show from their career. I laid down my 39.99 way back when for the 3 disc set from MD. Those profits were supposed to fund the thing. Haven't heard a word since.

Me either; but I remember a back stage conversation at one of those Greek Theate KPFA broadcasts. Garcia, Healy, Gans and others were talking about a website; where you could pay an annual fee and get access to the entire vault! Maybe it's just around the corner.

"o.k, say you buy three shows , i dunno, like 3 77 gems. you spend 30 bucks on the flacs. your old buddy mcgannahan, he's broke, can you send him the shows for free? how could they stop folks from trading once they've been purchased. i think that's why the download series has halted. they can't control what people do with the files once they've downloaded them."

The download series is back. I bought another one from the Nugs.net site about a week ago in lossless FLAC format. RHINO isn't going to make any money, by pulling their own commercial stuff out of circulation; so it's back again. God only knows just how many bootleg copies of that Fillmore West 1969 boxset really exist. More than 10,000 people wanted that limited edition release and not enough were made to meet the demand. Thieves they repeat this mistake with the new Winterland 73 boxset; so they can sell them on EBAY for $500 again...

They can't control it now, as it is! That ship sailed a LONG time ago. Thats why after my initial knee jerk reaction about Rhino(and a rather harsh rebuttal from GOP) I realized he was mostly right in saying get over it. It doesn't matter what anyone does ...the cat is out of the bag, this music has been freed for a long time. No matter what they try it will always be free.
